An Update From All Our Featured Users of 2005

To change things up a bit, we thought we would try something a little different and give an update on what this years featured users have been up to since their appearance here. Happiness, sadness, change, and some have stayed the same. Exciting or whatever, take a look at where everyone is and you decide...

Well, since I was featured user, quite a lot has happened.

  • I quit playing drums for Ronny North, though I wish him all the best, and miss playing his songs very much
  • Randy Strain and I put our band Loss Of Control on hiatus, after giggin for 3 years straight. He has joined a new project to keep busy, and I have as well.
  • I've started a new project with a guitarist named Gary Stewart, called Dirty Pool, and we've been tearing it up at the bars lately for fun.
  • I had some minor back surgery in October of 05, which I am working hard to recover from..... I get a little frustrated at the pace of it all, but I should be back to 100% very soon.
  • I am doing a one-night only show with Loss Of Control, as our CD is finally done.... We'll be headlinging a Sunday evening at the world-famous BB KING's in Universal City!! If it goes well, we'll be having a party at BB's one-a-month, for the forseeable future! I didn't want LOC to return until there was something special to do, ya know??
  • Oh yeah....Chelle made me a friggin MOD....TWICE!!!!!
  • In the last year, I've met some of the guys from the DLR band(except DLR), and I have to say they are all VERY cool guys....ESPECIALLY Toshi, I owe him a favor......'nuff said.

I was March 2005's Featured User. Since then, my brother has graduated high school and has since left his band Down and Out; he joined a band called 13 Curves, but has auditioned for another band. I moved from my old apartment to a different one in May; a bit better neighborhood, and a bit cheaper rent...no complaints there! At my job, I changed work areas; first learning to drive a fork truck at my plant, but when I realized how strenuous the work was, I asked for my disqualification, and was reassigned to a different work area, back on the production lines. I am currently building the freezer interior portion of Side-by-Side refrigerators for the company. The only concert I made it to this year was to Marci Mitchell, an up-and-coming country music singer. She and I grew up together, went to school together, and all that, and so I drove up to catch her show at an area casino. Also playing in her band was Doug Harper, another buddy from where I grew up, and the guy who helped teach my brother how to play bass. My travels were quite a bit slimmer this year. My best friend Sharon and I drove up to Oshkosh, WI, to help out Daryl and Darcy (nbbduke) with their TS fundraiser. My sole vacation this year was an inexpensive one, going camping in my favorite part of Iowa, up at Lake Okoboji (near Spirit Lake, IA). That pretty much sums it all up.

The side business is doing well. Still trying to stay out of trouble. Still looking for love in all the wrong places.

Nothing new here. Just continue to move forward each and every day with the help from the Lord. Our kids moved from a Christian school to a public school and Darcy has a new job working as a hairdresser at Great Clips in Appleton. Later Daryl & Darcy

It's been interesting here in Florida what with all the hurricane activity -- okay it has been frightening, but we survived. My sympathy and prayers go out to the people in the New Orleans area. My life changed radically this past year. I left a relationship of four year's duration - a change for the better, and my family is very happy with my decision, as are my friends. I've moved in with my oldest sister (who is like my Mom really), and she seems happy to have me here most of the time - ha! I changed jobs recently, and am much closer to home, and make more money; and the job is about 80% writing so that really makes me happy. I am to be a grandmother -- my son and his fiancée are expecting, and will be marrying in December. This also makes me very happy. So I guess happy change was my theme. Oh yes, have a new fellow in my life who makes me (guess what?) very happy!

Usually, I just take the helmet and chain off of my inner-child, and just let him run amuck on the message board (A lot of you are saying 'Yeah, no kidding!'). When I was selected for September's Featured User, I figured for once I'd give people a peek behind the madness that is my 'engine room'. I didn't expect the e-mails from various people saying how much they enjoyed the interview, some from members, and others who were just cruising the site. It was indeed an honor, and Chelle, thanks for satisfying my attention whore needs. LOL! I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

An update...well, not much has changed really. Short of phone coversations and emails, me and the high school sweety have not had a chance to get together yet. We both are hopeful that she will get to come home for Christmas.

The biggest thing that has happened in my life is that I am now a grandpa. My oldest daughter had a baby girl on November 6, and both of them are doing well. The future has me going to 7 NASCAR races next year (Daytona, California (2), Las Vegas, Phoenix (2), and Bristol). The kids and I would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season this year, and we plan on doing the same.
